Join celebrated cookbook author Emiko Davies for a deeply personal and seasonal cooking class at The Agrarian Kitchen, where heritage, storytelling and garden-grown produce come together in a vibrant exploration of Japanese home cooking.

Born in Australia to a Japanese mother and raised between cultures, Emiko’s cooking is shaped by her Japanese heritage and her years living in Tuscany. Her work reflects a lifelong connection to traditional Japanese flavours, an intimate understanding of regional food culture, and a deep respect for seasonality and simplicity.

Drawing from her latest book, The Japanese Pantry, Emiko will guide guests through a menu inspired by the essential ingredients of the Japanese kitchen — miso, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame, seaweed — thoughtfully paired with the seasonal abundance of the Agrarian Kitchen garden. Together, you’ll explore how these pantry staples elevate freshly harvested vegetables and transform them into balanced, nourishing dishes.

Alongside hands-on cooking, Emiko will share family memories, cultural insights and the philosophy that underpins Japanese home cooking: respect for ingredients, harmony of flavours, and cooking in tune with the seasons.

This intimate class offers a rare opportunity to cook with a writer and teacher whose heritage and lived experience bring authenticity, depth and warmth to every dish — all set within the inspiring surrounds of The Agrarian Kitchen.
